Huawei Mate XT 2 Set to Launch on September 7 With Triple Foldable Design
Huawei Mate XT 2 is expected to bring a larger foldable screen, updated hinge, stronger build and new performance features when it launches alongside HarmonyOS 7.
Huawei is preparing to introduce its next generation triple foldable smartphone in September. The Huawei Mate XT 2 has been scheduled for a September 7 launch, with the company also expected to unveil HarmonyOS 7 at the same event.
The new model will succeed the Huawei Mate XT, which arrived in 2025. The upcoming device has already attracted attention because of its unusual three part folding design and the possibility of a much larger display.
Large Display and Slim Design
One of the biggest talking points around the Mate XT 2 is its screen. Reports suggest the device could offer a display measuring more than 10 inches when fully unfolded.
The handset is also tipped to be around 3.6mm thick in its unfolded form. If that measurement is accurate, Huawei would be placing considerable emphasis on keeping the large foldable relatively slim despite its complex construction.
Redesigned Hinge Could Reduce the Crease
Huawei is reportedly working on a redesigned hinge for the Mate XT 2. The new mechanism could help reduce the visibility of the crease created where the flexible display folds.
The company may also use UFG glass as part of the phone’s construction. UFG, or ultra thin glass, is designed for applications where flexibility and durability are important. Its use could provide additional protection to the foldable panel, although Huawei has not officially confirmed the material for this device.
Possible Kirin Chip and On Device AI
Performance could also receive a significant upgrade. Leaks suggest that Huawei may equip the Mate XT 2 with a Kirin 9050 Pro chipset.
The phone is also expected to support on device artificial intelligence features. However, these specifications remain based on reports and leaks at this stage, so the final hardware could differ when Huawei officially announces the smartphone.
Four Colour Choices Expected
The Mate XT 2 could be offered in four colour options. The reported choices include Mystic Black, Auspicious Red, Crimson Purple and White.
Huawei has yet to officially confirm these colour variants or the other leaked specifications. More details are expected to emerge as the September 7 launch approaches.
