Redmi 17C 5G Brings 6000mAh Battery and 50MP Camera Under Budget

Redmi has expanded its budget 5G lineup with the new Redmi 17C 5G, a smartphone that puts a large battery and big display at the centre of its pitch. The phone has currently been introduced in Singapore, while its launch details for India are still awaited.

The international price has been set at 279 Singapore dollars, which is roughly equivalent to Rs 19,000. Redmi is offering the phone in Black, Brown with a vegan leather finish and Purple colour options. The company has not yet confirmed pricing for other markets.

Battery life could be one of the strongest reasons to consider the device. The Redmi 17C 5G packs a 6000mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging. Xiaomi claims the phone can deliver up to 105 hours of music playback on a single charge, although actual battery life will depend on usage.

The handset also features a 6.9 inch display with support for a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The larger panel should be useful for watching videos, browsing the web and scrolling through social media, while DC Dimming is included as another display feature.

Photography is handled by a 50MP main rear camera. The camera software includes HDR, Night and Portrait modes, giving users several options for everyday shots. Video recording is supported at up to 1080p resolution and 30 frames per second.

For performance, Redmi has opted for the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. The processor supports 5G and is aimed at handling regular smartphone activities such as social media, streaming and everyday multitasking.

The announced configuration comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Users can also expand storage with a microSD card, with support for capacities of up to 1TB.

The software experience on the international model is based on Xiaomi HyperOS 3. The phone also carries an IP64 rating, offering protection against dust and water splashes. That rating does not mean the handset can safely be submerged in water.

Redmi has kept some familiar features that are increasingly disappearing from modern smartphones. The Redmi 17C 5G includes a 3.5mm headphone jack alongside a USB Type C port, Wi Fi, Bluetooth, 4G and 5G connectivity.

For Indian buyers, the biggest unanswered question is availability. Xiaomi has not announced an official India launch date or price yet. However, the phone has reportedly received BIS certification in India, suggesting that a local launch could be under consideration.

For now, the Redmi 17C 5G looks aimed at buyers who want a large screen, long battery life and 5G connectivity without moving into a higher price bracket. Its eventual Indian price will determine how strongly it competes with other budget 5G smartphones.
