However, a TDS reading by itself cannot establish whether water is completely safe. Water with low TDS can still contain bacteria or viruses, while a higher TDS reading does not automatically mean that the water is unsafe.
The overall quality of drinking water needs to be assessed through multiple parameters rather than one number.
pH also matters
The pH level is another factor that can provide useful information about water quality. Water that is excessively acidic or alkaline can affect taste and may contribute to corrosion in plumbing systems.
