Big Relief for Ration Card Holders: Karnataka Government Issues New Order

The Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Department has announced a major relief for ration card holders across the state. To eliminate delays in the distribution of food grains, the department has issued a new government order to ensure that July’s ration is distributed to all beneficiaries on time.

Under the new directive, all Fair Price Shops (FPS) across Karnataka must remain open every day from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, allowing beneficiaries to collect their ration at their convenience. The order has been issued by the Commissioner of the Food and Civil Supplies Department.

The department has also issued a strict warning to dealers who delay ration distribution despite receiving food grain stocks from government warehouses. Shop owners have been instructed to begin distribution immediately after receiving stock, failing which they will face disciplinary action.

The Food Department aims to complete the distribution of both Anna Bhagya and NFSA food grains before the end of July. To achieve this, Fair Price Shops have been directed to remain open for 16 hours a day, making it easier for beneficiaries to access their entitlements.

The department has further instructed that rice supplied by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) must be distributed to beneficiaries immediately without any unnecessary excuses or delays.

To ensure strict implementation of the order, Joint Directors and Food Inspectors in every district have been directed to conduct surprise inspections at Fair Price Shops. Dealers found violating the rules or causing inconvenience to the public will face strict legal action.

The government’s decision is expected to provide significant relief to daily wage workers, private-sector employees, and other beneficiaries, who can now collect their ration either early in the morning before work or in the evening after returning home, without having to face long queues or limited operating hours.
