Bengaluru Air Quality Remains Healthy As Monsoon Brings Cleaner Air Across Karnataka
Bengaluru and several Karnataka cities are reporting healthy air quality levels as monsoon rainfall reduces pollution, creating cleaner conditions for outdoor activities and everyday life across the state.

Air quality has shown a noticeable improvement across Karnataka, with Bengaluru and several other major cities recording healthy Air Quality Index readings. Continuous monsoon rainfall has helped reduce airborne pollutants, offering residents cleaner air and more comfortable weather conditions.
According to the latest Air Quality Index readings, Bengaluru’s average AQI is currently ranging between 61 and 69. These levels fall within the satisfactory category, while some parts of the city are reporting even better air quality. With temperatures hovering around 28 degrees Celsius, the weather has become favourable for outdoor activities.
Even in busy areas that usually experience heavy traffic and congestion, pollution levels have remained under control. Majestic, one of Bengaluru’s busiest transport hubs, has recorded AQI values between 55 and 62, indicating good air quality despite constant movement of vehicles and commuters.
Industrial and high traffic locations such as Hebbal and Peenya are also witnessing improved conditions. Air quality in these areas is hovering around an AQI of 60, while concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 particles remain well below levels considered harmful to public health.
Bengaluru’s major information technology corridors are also experiencing satisfactory air quality. AQI levels in these areas are close to 65, which is generally considered safe for most people. Individuals with respiratory conditions may still choose to take necessary precautions, but the current air quality does not pose a significant health concern for the general public.
The improvement is not limited to the state capital. Several other cities across Karnataka are also reporting encouraging air quality levels. Madikeri and Mangaluru, which have received continuous rainfall during the monsoon season, are recording AQI values between 35 and 53. These readings indicate very clean air and are among the best in the state.
In northern Karnataka, cities including Davanagere and Koppal have reported AQI levels ranging from 53 to 60, reflecting satisfactory environmental conditions. Nearby districts such as Kolar and Chikkaballapur have also maintained healthy air quality, with index values between 60 and 66.
Weather experts often note that monsoon showers help improve air quality by washing dust and other suspended particles out of the atmosphere. The recent rainfall across Karnataka appears to have played an important role in reducing pollution levels, resulting in cleaner air across both urban and rural regions.
With favourable weather, lower pollution, and healthy AQI readings across many districts, residents can enjoy cleaner surroundings while continuing to monitor local air quality updates, especially during changing weather conditions.
