Karnataka Heavy Rainfall: Alert Issued For Coastal Districts For Next 3 Days

The coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over the next three days.

Heavy rainfall continues to batter several parts of Karnataka, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting more rain accompanied by strong winds across the state over the next three days. Karnataka Heavy Rainfall: Alert issued for Coastal Districts for Next 3 Days.

An Orange Alert has been issued for the coastal districts, while residents have been advised to remain vigilant and avoid flood-prone areas.

Orange Alert for Coastal Karnataka:

The coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over the next three days. Gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 kmph are also expected to accompany the rain, increasing the risk of waterlogging, falling trees, and disruption to normal life.

Among the worst-hit regions, Uttara Kannada has witnessed relentless rainfall over the past three days, triggering floods and widespread disruption. Water even entered the sanctum sanctorum of the famous Gokarna Temple, highlighting the severity of the situation.

In view of the deteriorating weather, the district administration has declared an Orange Alert until July 2. Authorities have urged residents and tourists to stay away from riverbanks, beaches, and other vulnerable locations until weather conditions improve.

Thunderstorms, Strong Winds Forecast for North Interior Karnataka:

The IMD has also predicted light to moderate rainfall across several North Interior Karnataka districts, including Bagalkot, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, and Yadgir.

These areas may also experience thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds reaching 40-50 kmph, prompting authorities to advise the public to exercise caution while travelling and during outdoor activities.

Heavy Rain Likely in Malnad and South Interior Karnataka:

Heavy showers are expected to continue in the Malnad region, especially in Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru, where winds of 30-40 kmph are likely. Meanwhile, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ballari, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, and Vijayanagara are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall at many places.
