Karnataka Weather Forecast Predicts Heavy Rain as Orange Alert Issued for Coastal Districts

The weather department has forecast widespread rainfall across Karnataka, with an Orange Alert for coastal districts and strong winds expected in several regions until July 1.

Bengaluru: The southwest monsoon has intensified across Karnataka, and the India Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rainfall in several parts of the state over the coming days. Coastal Karnataka is expected to witness the heaviest showers, with an Orange Alert in effect from June 29 to July 1.

Before the Orange Alert comes into force, a Yellow Alert will remain in place for the coastal belt until June 29. Officials have advised residents, fishermen, and those living in vulnerable areas to remain cautious as rainfall activity is expected to increase significantly.

Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts are likely to receive heavy rain accompanied by winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. The intensity of rainfall is expected to rise further during the Orange Alert period.

In North Interior Karnataka, districts including Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, and Kalaburagi are likely to experience moderate rainfall along with gusty winds. Bagalkote, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, and Yadgir are also expected to receive light to moderate showers. A Yellow Alert has been issued for many of these districts from June 29 onward.

Rain is also expected across South Interior Karnataka. Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, and Kodagu may receive moderate to heavy rainfall with strong winds. Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ballari, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, and Vijayanagara are likely to experience moderate rainfall accompanied by wind speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour.

The weather department expects rainfall activity to strengthen across most parts of Karnataka between June 29 and July 1 and has urged the public to stay updated with official forecasts and take necessary precautions during adverse weather conditions.
