Since Karnataka has been facing a rain deficit this year, the state’s farmers are highly pinning their hopes on the Aridra rains. A Yellow Alert has been issued for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts, which are likely to see heavy downpours accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Regional Weather Forecast:
Coastal Karnataka: Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts are likely to witness heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. As a precautionary measure, a Yellow Alert has been issued for these regions.
South Interior Karnataka: Districts like Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Hassan, and Kodagu will experience heavy rains accompanied by strong winds blowing at a speed of 30 to 40 km/h.
Bengaluru & Other Districts: The Silicon City, Bengaluru, is also expected to receive rain. Meanwhile, light showers are predicted in Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagar, Ballari, Chikkaballapura, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Mysuru, Mandya, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, and Vijayanagara districts.
Monsoon sowing has already commenced in the coastal and Malnad districts, but a shortage of rainfall is being felt in several areas. Historically, the Aridra rains have brought good fortune to farmers, and this year too, the providers of food have kept high expectations. If the Aridra rains fail this time, there is a looming threat of drought.
