Good News for Motorists: The 50 percent concession on pending traffic violation fines announced by the state government for motorists has come into effect today. This offers a golden opportunity for vehicle owners to clear their long-pending cases at half the price before the deadline on July 10.
Currently, a staggering 5.05 crore traffic violation cases are registered across the state, with pending fines amounting to over Rs 2,727 crore due to the government. Considering the massive scale of unpaid fines, the government has introduced this discount scheme to ease the financial burden on the public while recovering the dues.
While similar concessions were granted five times between 2023 and 2025, this marks the sixth time that this special rebate scheme is being implemented. During this discount window, traffic police are set to intensify vehicle checking drives across roads.
Senior traffic police officials have stated that if any past pending cases are detected during checking, motorists can pay 50% of the fine amount on the spot and collect an official receipt.
Since the full fine amount will be applicable once the July 10 deadline expires, motorists are requested to make the most of this concession and clear all pending cases on their vehicles immediately.
