Instagram is working on a major update that could change the way people watch short videos on the platform. The social media giant is currently testing a new feature called Series, designed to organize related Reels into structured collections that can be viewed like episodes of a show. The move is expected to improve content discovery and encourage users to spend more time following ongoing stories, tutorials, and challenges.
The feature is being introduced to a limited number of creators during its testing phase. According to information shared by Meta, creators will be able to group both newly uploaded and previously published Reels into a single collection. Instead of appearing as scattered videos across a profile, the content will be arranged in one dedicated section, making it easier for viewers to watch everything in sequence.
For users, the experience could feel much more organized. Someone following a fitness challenge, cooking course, educational lesson, or storytelling series will no longer need to search through a creator’s profile to find the next video. Every related Reel will be available in one place, allowing viewers to continue watching from where they stopped and revisit earlier episodes whenever needed.
The feature is expected to be especially useful for creators who regularly publish multi part content. For example, a creator running a ten day fitness transformation program can place all related videos into a single series. Viewers can then follow each episode in order, creating a smoother and more engaging viewing experience.
