Heavy Rain Warning: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across various parts of the state today, including the coastal and Malnad regions, due to the increased intensity of pre-monsoon winds. Strong gusty winds are also expected during this period.
Regions Expected to Receive Heavy Rain:
The IMD stated that heavy rain is likely to lash the state capital, Bengaluru, along with:
Coastal Districts: Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada.
Malnad & Southern Districts: Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, and Mysuru.
Precautionary Measure: A Yellow Alert has been issued for all these regions as a precautionary measure. Strong winds blowing at a speed of 50 km/h are also expected. The IMD has urged the public to remain cautious and take necessary safety precautions.
Bengaluru and North Karnataka Weather:
Bengaluru: The state capital will experience cloudy weather since morning, with downpours expected to start by evening.
North Karnataka: Moderate rainfall is predicted for various parts of North Karnataka, including Dharwad, Belagavi, and Haveri.
According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon is expected to onset over Kerala by May 26, after which the monsoon fury will begin in full swing.
