KIIT Rises to Sixth Rank in India in Asia University Rankings 2026
KIIT secures sixth position among Indian universities in Asia University Rankings 2026 showing consistent global rise and emerging as top institution in eastern region with strong academic performance indicators.

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology has strengthened its position in higher education by securing the sixth spot among Indian universities in the Asia University Rankings 2026. The achievement highlights the institution’s steady progress and growing academic reputation.
The rankings, released by Times Higher Education, evaluated hundreds of universities across Asia based on multiple performance indicators. These included teaching standards, research output, research quality, international outlook, and industry collaboration. KIIT’s strong performance across these areas has helped it move up consistently over the years.
On the global stage within Asia, the university has improved its standing to 169th position. This marks a notable rise compared to previous years, reflecting a sustained upward trajectory in rankings and recognition.
The latest ranking also places KIIT at the top among institutions in Odisha and across eastern India. This regional leadership further underlines its expanding influence in the academic landscape.
What makes the achievement significant is the fact that KIIT has managed to outperform several long established institutions despite being relatively young. Its focus on innovation, global partnerships, and quality education has contributed to its rapid rise.
University founder Dr Achyuta Samanta credited the accomplishment to the collective efforts of faculty, students, and staff. He emphasised that a strong commitment to excellence and international engagement has played a key role in building a globally competitive institution.
The consistent improvement in rankings reflects not just academic performance but also the university’s ability to adapt and evolve in a competitive environment. With continued focus on research and global collaboration, KIIT is positioning itself as a leading name in higher education.
As universities across Asia compete for recognition, KIIT’s progress signals a broader shift where emerging institutions are making their mark alongside traditional leaders.
