Facebook parent company Meta has also been added to the list of terrorist organizations by Russia

Last March, the Russian government imposed restrictions on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.Meta, the parent company of major social networking company Facebook, has been declared a terrorist and extremist organization. Russia has declared war on Ukraine and netizens are supporting Ukraine on Facebook. Upset by this, Russia has labeled Meta a terrorist organization. Last March, the Russian government imposed restrictions on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. A Moscow court has accused the social media platform owned by Mark Zuckerberg of extremist activity. It accused social media users in Ukraine of allowing them to post content inciting violence against Russians. Facebook parent company Meta has also been added to the list of terrorist organizations by Russia.

Later, Meta’s lawyers rejected the allegations. As such, Meta told the court that the organization has never been involved in militant activities, Reuters reported. In April, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was barred from entering Russia by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Not only Mark Zuckerberg but a total of 7 people who are very elite like him were banned from entering Russia.

On February 24, Russian forces launched an all-out invasion of Ukraine. Fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces has entered its 9th month with no sign of peace. Russian strikes on Tuesday over the central Ukraine region of Dnipropetrovsk caused serious damage to energy facilities. Meanwhile, Ukraine has also continued its counterattack against Russia.

Russia has now added Meta to its list of terrorist organizations. The announcement comes after Russia escalated its military offensive against Ukraine. Somva Russia bombed several Ukrainian cities, killing civilians.

Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are all owned by Meta. Facebook and Instagram, two of Meta’s most important platforms, were already banned in Russia. Finally the ban on WhatsApp was lifted.
