Reliance Jio is preparing to introduce a new wireless internet service for homes and offices, called Jio AirFiber. During the 2023 AGM held today, Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries announced that that Jio AirFiber would be launched in India on Tuesday, September 19th, 2023.

Reliance Jio AirFiber can be believed as an extension to the Jio fiber setup that has more than 1 crore subscribers across the country. “Through optical fiber, we can currently connect around 15,000 premises daily. But with Jio AirFiber, we can supercharge this expansion with up to 150,000 connections per day,” Mukesh Ambani said at the annual event.

The Jio AirFiber is like a hotspot device that will allow users to access 5G networks in remote areas. To use the device, users will just have to turn the device on to get 5G access without any connection via fibre optics.

Along with fast speed internet, the Jio AirFiber will also offer other services for a safe internet experience, including: Jio AirFiber will offer parental control tools that will allow users to manage and restrict content accessible on their network. It will also support Wi-Fi 6 technology, which will ensure enhanced and efficient connectivity for devices.

The Jio AiFiber service will integrate with the Jio set-top box, allowing users to combine their high-speed internet connection with television viewing through the same network. Jio AirFiber will also offer easy installation and management via an app.

On Jio AirFiber, users will be able to exercise control over their network by blocking specific websites or devices, ensuring a more secure and tailored online experience. Jio AirFiber service is expected to be priced 20 per cent lower than other available devices in the market. A report by ET telecom suggests that the device could cost around Rs 6,000.
