PAN-Aadhaar Link: Now how much penalty should be paid for PAN-Aadhaar linking

The central government has extended the deadline for linking PAN and Aadhaar to June 30, 2023. However, there is a penalty to link these two documents. The PAN-Aadhaar link was free till March 31, 2022. Later, the government extended it till March 31, 2023, by one year. But Rs 1,000 fine was also imposed. Penalties are now extended.

Rs 1,000 Penalty:

You can make a new PAN card Rs 1,000 for this. No penalty is required. But if the PAN card is already used for bank, IT returns etc., it is not advisable to make a new PAN card. So Rs 1,000  It is better to link PAN-Aadhaar by paying the fine, says Bangalore-based chartered accountant Vijay Sagar Shenai. (PAN-Aadhaar Linking) If Aadhaar-PAN is not linked by June 30, 2023, it will be considered inactive. 1,000 for inactive PAN card. Can be activated within 30 days after payment of fee.

How to link PAN and Aadhaar through SMS?

1. UIDPAN – 12-digit Aadhaar 10 digit PAN

2. Send this SMS to 56161 or 567678 using your registered mobile number.

How to link Pan-Aadhaar?

The Income Tax Department has devised several ways to link PAN with Aadhaar.

The e-filing portal of Income Tax Department can be linked through https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.

Register on this website (www.incometax.gov.in) if not registered. Your PAN number will be the user ID. Date of birth will be the password.

After login, the link Your PAN with Aadhaar will be available on the page. If not found then go to profile settings and click on the link Aadhaar.

Check the PAN details. If it doesn’t match, it needs to be fixed. If it matches then click the link now button.

You will get a message after successful linking.

Pan-Aadhaar linking can be done by going to NSDL/UTIIL office.

If the deadline for PAN-Aadhaar linking is missed, the PAN will be inactive.

Who should link Aadhaar-PAN?

As per Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, everyone who got a PAN card on or after July 1, 2017 should link Aadhaar-PAN. But it is not mandatory for some people here. This exemption is applicable to residents of Assam, Jammu Kashmir, and Meghalaya. Non-citizens of India, above 80 years are exempted.
