iPhone 14: launch date, features and price

Apple is expected to announce four new Apple iPhone 14 models this year. The company has not announced the iPhone 14 launch date yet. iPhone 14: launch date, features and price. While we wait for the official Apple event invite, here is a quick look at the iPhone 14 series specifications, rumoured launch date, features and other details known so far.

The new iPhone 14 series will focus on a large-screen experience and will be available in two display sizes. The iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro are expected to feature a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 14 Max and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are said to have a 6.7-inch display. All four iPhone 14 models are tipped to feature high-refresh-rate displays.

The iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max could feature a 90Hz refresh rate OLED screens, while the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max could continue to use 120Hz ProMotion OLED screens. It was earlier rumoured that the iPhone 14 series will feature an in-display Touch ID fingerprint reader, but that doesn’t seem to be happening.

Apple is tipped to feature a massive 1/1.3-inch 48MP camera sensor for the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It will be the biggest camera sensor to be ever used on an iPhone. The new camera sensor will theoretically allow for 8K video capture, which is an upgrade over the current 4K/60fps threshold of iPhones.

The company could let go of the 5.4-inch iPhone Mini model due to the low demand for such small devices. However, that does not mean that the usual four-devices-per-series strategy will change. Apple will reportedly replace the Mini model with an all-new Max model. So, expect to see an iPhone 14 Max in the lineup. Apple appears to be focusing more on larger iPhone sizes.

Ever since the iPhone X, iPhones have featured a wide notch on the top of the screen, which accommodates the front-facing camera and Face ID hardware. This is reportedly set to change with the iPhone 14, as the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to get rid of the dreaded notch for good.

Turns out, Apple will go with a combination of a circular cutout for the selfie camera and a pill-shaped display cutout to make room for Face ID components, a best-of-both-worlds solution (we hope). This will help Apple get rid of the notch while retaining the Face ID technology. The iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max would still feature a wide notch but it will be slightly smaller.

Rumours suggest that the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro could feature a whopping 8GB of RAM, making them the first iPhones to feature this much RAM. The company could use 6GB RAM for the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max. Expected to come in Midnight, Starlight, Sky Blue, Purple, and Product Red colour variants.

The iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are said to come in Graphite, Silver, Gold, and Purple colour options. If Apple follows its usual launch trend, we can expect the iPhone 14 launch date to be September 13, 2022. It could go on sale ten days later on September 22, 2022. Most Apple iPhone launch events take place around the same timeline, and if things go as planned, the iPhone 14 series launch should not be any different.

iPhone 14 price

Apple will announce the iPhone 14 series price and sale details at the event in September. Meanwhile, an analyst claims that the iPhone 14 price could be about $100 more than the iPhone 13 series. If true, the base iPhone 14 could be available for $899, whereas the iPhone 14 Max could launch for $999. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max could be priced at $1,099 and $1,199, respectively.
