Motorola appears to be preparing another entry in the foldable smartphone segment, with reports pointing to a new passport style device that could arrive under the Razr Flex name. The upcoming model is expected to have a wider body than Motorola’s traditional Razr foldables.
The reported specifications suggest that Motorola could focus on both display size and performance with this device. The Razr Flex may feature a 6.92 inch OLED inner screen with a resolution of 1728 by 2364 pixels and a 165Hz refresh rate. A smaller 4.97 inch OLED cover display could be placed on the outside, with a resolution of 1736 by 1140 pixels.
Under the hood, the smartphone is tipped to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. The processor is reportedly capable of reaching a peak clock speed of up to 3.8GHz. The device could be offered with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
Battery capacity could be another highlight. The Motorola Razr Flex is expected to pack a 5000mAh battery and may support Qi2 wireless fast charging. If these specifications are accurate, the larger battery could help address one of the key requirements for users choosing a foldable smartphone.
Camera hardware is also expected to receive considerable attention. The phone could feature a 50 megapixel primary camera with up to 30x digital zoom. A second 50 megapixel ultra wide camera may accompany it, giving users a wider option for landscapes and group photographs.
The reported design shows a flat rear panel with a pill shaped camera module positioned near the top. Physical power and volume buttons could be placed on the right side of the handset. A flat hinge is also reportedly being considered for the foldable mechanism.
Motorola could offer the Razr Flex in selected international markets, with Pantone Dark Botanical Garden and Pantone Coriander reportedly among the possible colour options. Connectivity features are expected to include WiFi and Bluetooth.
The software could be based on Android 17, although Motorola has not officially confirmed the final software version or specifications of the device.
The new foldable could enter a market that is becoming increasingly competitive. It may face competition from devices such as the iPhone Duo and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, depending on launch timing and market availability.
Motorola has already expanded its foldable portfolio in India this year with the Razr Fold. That model features an 8.1 inch 2K LTPO pOLED inner display and a 6.56 inch LTPO pOLED cover display. It also packs a 6000mAh battery with support for 80W TurboPower wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Motorola has not yet confirmed the launch date, pricing or complete specifications of the Razr Flex. The reported details should therefore be treated as early information until the company makes an official announcement.
