The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has described the forecast as an urgent weather advisory, warning that a low-pressure system influencing weather conditions across Karnataka could trigger heavy rain and strong winds during the next few hours. This alert issued for several districts of Karnataka including Bengaluru over the next three hours. Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds blowing at speeds of 30–40 kmph are also expected. Residents and commuters have been advised to remain cautious and take necessary safety precautions.
According to the forecast, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, Davanagere, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Shivamogga, Ballari, Kolar, and Chikkaballapu are likely to witness intense spells of rain.
Sudden downpours accompanied by gusty winds are expected, with rainfall likely to continue for more than an hour in several places. After a brief lull over the past two days, rainfall activity is expected to intensify once again across parts of the state. Authorities have urged residents, especially motorists, to remain alert.
The weather department has warned that 14 key districts, including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Chamarajanagar, and Tumakuru, are expected to experience the most severe weather conditions.
Thick cloud cover, thunderstorms, lightning, and continuous rainfall lasting for at least an hour are likely. Wind speeds of 30–40 kmph could also pose risks, including the possibility of uprooted trees and damaged electricity poles.
The sudden spell of heavy rain may lead to traffic congestion, particularly in urban areas, causing inconvenience to office-goers, students, and two-wheeler riders. Low-lying areas may experience waterlogging, and district administrations have been advised to remain prepared. The IMD has urged people to drive cautiously, avoid unnecessary travel during intense rainfall, and seek shelter in safe buildings during strong winds and thunderstorms.
