Uber said that once a ride is booked through the Uber chatbot on WhatsApp, the customer will get all the details including driver’s name, vehicle’s license plate number and location to the pickup point through a WhatsApp message.

“We want to make Uber accessible to all Indians and provide the service on platforms that are convenient for them,” said Nandini Maheshwari, Uber’s senior director of business development.

How does it work?:

One can register in the chat interface through WhatsApp, without the need for an Uber app. Also can book rides and get trip receipts. For this one has to scan the QR code or directly click on the link to open the Uber WhatsApp chat.

The chatbot then asks the user to provide pickup and drop off locations. They select the type of ride they want to book.

Here the chatbot will give you advance fare information and also the driver’s expected arrival time. WhatsApp confirms that the service is available to new and existing users who register with Uber with just one phone number.
