Zika Virus cases rise in Karnataka: Government issued high alert

Zika Virus: More than 30 pregnant women and 7 people suffering from fever in Chikkaballapur district have been checked and their blood samples have already been sent to Bengaluru laboratory for testing.

Now deadly Zika virus scare has started for Karnataka. Zika virus has now been detected in Talakayalabetta village of Shidlaghatta taluk of Chikkaballapur district and the health department has announced a high alert. Health department officials have already visited several villages including Venkatapura, Bachchanahalli, Vaddahalli, Dibburahalli near Talakayalabetta in Chikkaballapur district.

More than 30 pregnant women and 7 people suffering from fever in the village have been screened and their blood samples have already been sent to the Bengaluru laboratory for testing. After the detection of Zika virus in mosquitoes in villages like Talakayalabetta, Dibburahalli, Shidlaghatta, the villagers are now worried.

Officials of the health department have already gone to the villages where the Zika virus has been detected and have conducted an inspection. Also, special meetings have been held in this regard and necessary precautions have been taken to prevent the spread of Zika virus infection.

What is Zika virus? Is it so dangerous?
