Old Pension Scheme Implementation: CM Siddaramaiah finally give good news
State government employees union met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his home office Krishna and discussed. The Congress had said in its manifesto that it would cancel the NPS and implement the old pension system.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has given a big news to the government employees who are demanding that the old pension scheme should be re-implemented in the state. He said that he will give good news regarding the cancellation of the National Pension Scheme and the validation of the old pension system as soon as possible.
The issue came to light when the leaders of the state government employees union met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at his home office Krishna and discussed. The Congress had said in its manifesto that it would cancel the NPS and implement the old pension system. Even after the government came into existence, the government reiterated this commitment.
Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa also recently said that the old Pension Scheme will be implemented again. In the meantime, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah held a meeting with NPS Employees’ Association, office bearers of State Primary Education Association, office bearers of ministry employees.

What did Siddaramaiah said in the meeting:
The meeting discussed the issue of canceling NPS and implementing OPS. The pros and cons are also convincing. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah has told the employees’ organizations to organize a massive conference soon regarding the implementation of OPS. Siddaramaiah is said to have said that he will make an announcement about re-implementation of OPS there.

There is no question of going back on promises made to government employees. Siddaramaiah said on this occasion that the government is committed to implementing the Old Pension Scheme.

In the meeting held with the Chief Ministers, State government NPS Employees Association State President Shantarama Teja, Secretary Nagabhushan, State Primary Education Association President Nagesh, Secretary Chandrasekhara Nuggali, State government Employees Association Honorary President Shivrudraiah, NPS Employees Association office bearers and many others were present.
Unlike OPS, it is not possible to guarantee how much pension money will come in NPS. Because it is market based. Hence it is called dangerous. Employees have to contribute 10% of their basic salary towards NPS. Employees in OPS do not have to contribute anything towards pension.
