Northeast Monsoon hit: heavy rain in Karnataka for next 3 days

North East Monsoon has hit South India hard. Heavy rain in Chennai has turned the roads into rivers. School and college are given holidays. The Meteorological Department has indicated that the rain will intensify in South India including Karnataka till Saturday. The report said that many parts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, will receive heavy rains till November 3. According to the Meteorological Department, it rained in many places including Bengaluru on the evening of November 1.

Due to this, the rain interrupted the main ceremony of Puneeth Rajkumar Karnataka Ratna Award. The awards ceremony was held amidst the rain. A yellow alert has been announced in Tamil Nadu for the next four days.

Puducherry and Kerala have been warned that there will be heavy rain till November 3. According to IMD, there will be rain in some parts of South India including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karakail (Puducherry), Kerala, Mahe, some parts of Karnataka, Rayalaseema in Andhra Pradesh.

It will rain in the state for a few days this week and there are chances of more rain in the districts around Bengaluru. In this background, the Meteorological Department has announced ‘Yellow Alert’ for some districts. The rain that has been respite for the past few days are likely to rain again in November.

Rain will increase after the onset of northeast monsoon. At present there will be rain in the southern interior of the state on November 2 as a result of depression in the Bay of Bengal. It will rain in Tumkur, Chikkaballapur, Bengaluru Rural, Ramnagar, Kolar and Chamarajanagar parts and ‘Yellow Alert’ has been declared in these districts.

On Monday, Bengaluru recorded a maximum of 26 degrees Celsius, a minimum of 18 degrees Celsius, and a maximum of 34 degrees Celsius, a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius in Mangaluru.
