Night Curfew in Karnataka From Today 10pm, What’s allowed and What’s not

As Omicron cases continue to rise across the country, Karnataka has imposed a 10-day night curfew in the state starting today. “Night curfew has been imposed in the state in the interest of public health,” Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said while speaking to media persons on Monday. Karnataka night curfew timings: Karnataka government on Sunday decided to impose a night curfew for 10 days from December 28 between 10 PM and 5 AM.  Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar said, “A statewide night curfew will be imposed from December 28 from 10 pm to 5 am for ten days.

New Year celebrations at pubs, restaurants and hotels are banned. Section 144 will be imposed in the state from December 28.”

-Patients in need of urgent treatment have been exempted from the curfew restrictions.

– Industries/companies doing operations at night have also been exempted.

– Employees and vehicles of telecom and internet service providers and essential staff of IT and ITeS companies have too been exempted from the rules.

– Medical, emergency and essential services will operate during the curfew hours.

– The goods carriers, empty vehicles, home delivery of goods and e-commerce are allowed.

-Public transport, private vehicles and taxis to and from the airport, bus stands and railway stations have been exempted from the guidelines.

States like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi have also reimpose night curfew. India saw the highest single-day rise of Omicron infections with 156 fresh cases, taking the total tally of such cases to 578, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

The India nationwide case tally of the Omicron variant of coronavirus has reached 653, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.  Delhi has recorded the most cases of Omicron in the country (142), followed by Maharashtra (141), Kerala (57), Gujarat (49) and 43 (Rajasthan), the health ministry had said in a bulletin.

With the surge in cases, the Centre issued a fresh advisory to all states and union territories, asking them not to let the guard down. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said states and union territories may consider imposing need-based, local curbs and restrictions, to control the crowd during the festive season.
