Karnataka heavy Rainfall : school holiday, issued yellow alert

Heavy Rainfall continues in Karnataka, The Meteorological Department has predicted that the rain will continue for two more days across the state, including the coast and hills. Also heavy rainfall continues in Hassan district and holiday has been declared for Anganwadi, Primary and High schools in Sakaleshpur taluk today. Heavy rains have created chaos in Hassan district for the past few days.

In Sakleshpur taluk, the heavy rainfall continues today, Tehsildar Jaikumar has issued an order to the Anganwadi, Primary and High Schools of the taluk today in the interest of the safety of children. The Meteorological Department has predicted that there is a possibility of rain in the coastal and hilly districts of the state today, and a yellow alert has been announced in the districts of South Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Chikmagalur, Kodagu, Hassan, Shivamogga, and the districts of the southern hinterland.

Yellow alert has been announced for heavy rainfall along with storm today and tomorrow in Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi districts. Rain will increase slightly in Chikmagalur, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Kodagu districts today. A yellow alert has been announced for moderate rain in the north interior districts of Dharwad, Belagavi, Bidar and Kalaburagi for the next two days.

A well-marked low-pressure area persists over Madhya Pradesh while an east-west shear zone runs across North Peninsular India. These systems are likely to produce heavy to very heavy rainfall over Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and the adjoining areas for the next couple of days.

Furthermore, the above systems are expected to produce very heavy rainfall (≧115mm/day) in some areas of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat state, Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra on Thursday and West Rajasthan and Gujarat region on Friday. Meanwhile, another low-pressure area over Saurashtra and the adjoining regions will likely become more marked through Friday while moving westwards away from the Indian coast.
