Karnataka heavy rainfall: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the state including the coastal and hills area for the next 5 days. Karnataka heavy rainfall for next 5 days, issued alert, school holiday.

Today there is a possibility of heavy rain in Davangere, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Chikkaballapur, Shimoga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu and Hassan districts and yellow alert has been announced for the next 24 hours.

There is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the districts of Malnadu for the next 5 days, Orange Alert has been announced in Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan districts on August 1 and 2. The Meteorological Department has predicted that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in some parts of the coast, southern hinterland and northern hinterland.

School Holiday in Dakshina Kannada

A holiday has been declared for all Anganwadi centers, primary and high schools in the area today in the wake of heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightening in Ullala, Mulki, Moodbidire and Bantwala taluk under the municipal corporation.

Keeping in mind the safety of children, a holiday has been declared for all Anganwadi Centres, Primary and High Schools across Mangalore Sub-Division (Mangalore City Corporation, Mulki, Moodbidire, Ullala and Bantwala Taluks) today. In other places of Puttur sub-division, Tahsildars and BEOs take decisions locally after assessing the local situation.

As per the India Meteorological Department, 20.4 mm of rainfall was recorded in 24 hours between 8:30 am on Thursday and 8:30 am on Friday. Further, 2.4 mm of rainfall was recorded during a span of nine hours till 5:30 pm on Friday. The weather department classifies rainfall between ‘trace’ and 2.4 mm as ‘very light rainfall’, as ‘light rainfall’ when it is between 2.5 mm and 15.5 mm, as ‘moderate’ rainfall when it is between 15.6 mm and 64.4 mm and as ‘heavy’ when it is over 64.5 mm in a single day.
