Karnataka heavy rainfall alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain and hailstorm in more than 25 districts of Karnataka in the coming days. IMD issued orange alert in these places. Strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning are also expected.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for several areas, while an orange alert has been declared for some northern districts, warning of severe weather conditions, including winds gusting at 40-50 kmph.

Orange Alert (1 April)

The following districts are expected to experience severe weather conditions:

Bidar

Gulbarga

Bijapur

Yadgir

Raichur

Belgaum

Bagalkot

Koppal

Gadag

Haveri

Yellow Alert (1 April)

Moderate weather disturbances are anticipated in these districts:

Uttara Kannada

Shimoga

Udupi

Chikmagalur

Hassan

Kodagu

The Meteorological Department has not issued any warning for Karnataka’s capital, Bengaluru. However, the city will experience partly cloudy weather till April 2. Rain is forecast in Bengaluru on April 4 and 5.

Weather Forecast for Karnataka:

1-3 April: There will be cloudy weather in Karnataka, with thunder, lightning and winds blowing at a speed of 40-50 kmph.

While moderate rainfall is expected in the northern interior of Karnataka, widespread moderate rainfall is likely in the southern interior and coastal areas, including Bangalore, with heavy rainfall possible in some areas.

2-3 April: Hail is likely in some parts of coastal Karnataka and northern interior Karnataka.

4 April: Widespread rain is expected across Karnataka, and while there may be some relief from rising temperatures, there is a possibility of local disruptions to the rain.

Officials have urged residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as unstable weather conditions continue. Cyclone formation off Odisha coast: A sudden change in weather conditions has been caused by a depression in the air pressure off the Odisha coast, which is likely to intensify into a cyclone.

As a result: Dakshina Kannada, Belagavi, and Chikkamagaluru are likely to receive moderate rainfall on April 1. Thunderstorms are expected on April 3. Widespread rainfall is predicted across Karnataka on April 4. Residents are advised to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions, especially in districts under the yellow alert.
