Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai impose weekend curfew in border districts of Kerala and Maharashtra. Night curfew to be tightened from 9 pm to 5 am across the state.
State government to restart schools for high school— 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 standards from August 23. Classes to be held on alternate days.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who, on Friday, convened a meeting of the COVID-19 expert committee comprising Dr Devi Shetty, Dr C.N. Manjunath, Dr M. K. Sudarshan and Dr Ravi stated that the government has been closely watching the COVID-19 situation in the state and the neighbouring states too.
“Besides the weekend curfew in border districts, we have decided to extend the state wide night curfew from 9 pm till 5 am,” said Bommai. The government has also planned to reopen the schools in a graded manner.
“We consulted the health and education experts. They have advised us on the possibility of reopening the schools in a graded manner. The schools will be reopened for classes 9 to 12 from August 23, to begin with.
The schools will be required to conduct classes in batches on alternate days (three days a week for each batch) However, the decision on reopening the primary and secondary schools will be taken by the end of August, after assessing the COVID-19 situation in the state,” said Bommai.
