Karnataka BJP Minister S Angara announces retirement from election politics

Sullia: BJP MLA and senior party leader from Dakshina Kannada district S Angara on Wednesday announced retirement from electoral politics following the party’s decision to not hand him a ticket for upcoming Karnataka polls. Speaking to media reporters at his residence here, the six-term MLA stated that he was not upset with the party not giving him ticket for the polls. However, he added “This is not the way to honor my selfless services to the party for so many years without any black spot in my career and character.”

“Lobbying was not my strength. That set me back.” He added asserting he will not be taking part in the electoral campaign of the party and that the party can take care of the new candidate and his campaign.

Minister S. Angara, who contested for the first time and suffered defeat, was later elected as MLA for six consecutive times. He was a minister for the last two and a half years in the BJP government in the state.
