In the coastal districts of the state, early last week, there was a slight decrease in rainfall. But for the next four days, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in the background of intensifying rains in the coastal districts. Till July 15, Kundapur received seven cm, Mangaluru Airport, Panambur, Kota and Uppinangady experienced four cm of rainfall, while Mangaluru, Mani and Udupi received three cm of rainfall. Incidents of mudslides and damage to houses have been reported in the areas of Konaje and Harekala.

Many low-lying areas in different parts of Dakshina Kannada have been flooded. Several parts of DK and Udupi districts received moderate to heavy rains in the last two days, officials said. A yellow alert means heavy rainfall between 6 and 11 cm.

In the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts, wind speed is likely of 30 to 40 km per hour. Due to this, the India Meteorological Department has warned tourists, locals and fishermen not to go to the beach.

Rainfall should be 110 percent compared to the annual rainfall. But this time it is said to be difficult. There is only a 25 percent chance of normal rainfall. Therefore, it has been warned that there is a possibility of drought in the coming days.
