Heavy Rainfall alert, school holiday declared today

India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Heavy rainfall will fall in the state for three more days. Coastal and Malnad districts will receive more rain for the next three days, while moderate rain will fall in other parts. Heavy Rainfall alert school holiday declared today. Heavy Rainfall continues in Kodagu district and holiday has been declared for Anganwadi and schools today. Due to the heavy rainfall in Kodagu district for a few days, as a precautionary measure, DDPI Vedamurthy has issued an order declaring holiday for Anganwadi, Primary and High schools in the district.

Due to heavy rainfall, there has been damage in various parts of the district, half of the main road connecting Hodavada-Kottmudi to Napoklu has collapsed and vehicular traffic has been disrupted. Already, the monsoon is falls a bit. In the next 2 to 3 days, there will be widespread rain in coastal and Malnad areas, and in the next day.

Monsoon will move towards North India and the amount of rain will decrease in the state. As it is the Red alert declared, there is a possibility that the rains that are low will start again after a few days,” says a senior official of the Meteorological Department. A red alert has been declared in coastal Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi and Malnad districts like Chikmagalur, Kodagu and Shimoga on Sunday.

Orange alert has been issued for Hassan, Yadagiri, Kalaburagi, Bidar districts and Yellow alert for Belgaum, Raichur, Vijayapur, Chamarajanagar, Davangere and Mysore districts. Kodagu, continued rainfall on the coastal.Mansoon intensified further in Dakshina Kannada district on Saturday, red alert was announced on August 7, followed by orange alert for four days.

The cold weather continues as there is wind along with the rain. The temperature has already dropped by 6 degrees Celsius. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea as the sea is rough and windy. Rain is likely to continue till August 13. After this the rain will decrease slowly.
