In Kodagu district, a 50 meter long national highway has collapsed in Koyanadu village of Madikeri taluk due to heavy rain. The soil below the bridge has been washed away due to the flood and there is a possibility of the bridge collapsing at any moment and the Madikeri-Mangaluru connection has been cut off.

Due to the heavy rains in Kodagu district for the past few days, the life of the people has been disrupted and it is raining today as well and the motorists are struggling. The Meteorological Department has predicted that heavy rainfall is likely to occur in the state for the next two days. Coastal and hill districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall for 2 more days.

Red alert has been issued in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga due to heavy rainfall today and tomorrow. Mysuru, Shivamogga, Hassan, Tumkur, Haveri, Belgaum, Gadag, Dharwad, Vijayapur, Kalaburagi and Bidar districts are expected to receive heavy rain and yellow alert has been announced. Orange alert has been issued for Belagavi, Bagalkote, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Tumkur districts on Thursday and Friday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a red warning till August 5 in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in view of heavy rainfall forecast in the region. A red warning has also been issued for Kodagu on August 4, and in Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga district on August 5. Karnataka Heavy Rainfall: announced school holiday in this place.
