How to delink Aadhaar from Gruha Jyothi scheme: Gruha Jyothi scheme is widely used across the state. Most of the families are benefiting from it. Aadhaar card is required to be linked in this scheme, which provides free electricity to customers using electricity within two hundred units.

Aadhaar linked on one side cannot be linked to another connection. This is becoming a problem for tenants who are moving house. Considering this, the government has given permission to delink Aadhaar from the electricity bill.

After receiving several complaints from consumers about not being able to carry forward their Gruha Jyothi registrations when they shift houses, the Energy Department announced that a facility to delink these registrations will be provided on the Seva Sindhu portal.

The portal, where the consumers can currently register for the Gruha Jyothi scheme, will soon also have the option to disconnect from one meter and newly register for the scheme under another meter, while shifting or any such circumstances. The department has asked all the electricity supply companies (ESCOMS) to make arrangements in this regard.

Gruha Jyothi Scheme is one of the guarantee schemes implemented by the state government. This is a scheme to provide free electricity up to 200 units per house. Gruha jyothi scheme will continue even if one Aadhaar number is linked to each ESCOM electricity connection. This scheme is applicable for households consuming less than 200 units of electricity.
