Dearness Allowance Hike: government increased DA to 35 Percent

Dearness Allowance Hike: The Karnataka government on Tuesday issued an order enhancing the rates of Dearness Allowance (DA) payable to State government employees and pensioners from the existing 31.00 per cent to 35.00 per cent of basic pay from January 1 this year. DA rise for state government employees comes just a week after Congress formed the southern state’s government.

In its manifesto, the grand old party promised free electricity and monthly pay for women and youths. May 30, the government also increased the allowance to 35 per cent of the basic pension for state government and aided educational institution pensioners whose pension is paid from the State Consolidated Fund.

These will apply to full-time government employees, Zila Panchayat employees, work-charged employees on regular time scales, and full-time employees of aided educational institutions and universities on regular time scales. “Separate orders will be issued in respect of employees on UGC/AICTE/ICAR/NJPC pay scales, as well as NJPC pensioners,” the government stated.

On March 24, the central government increased the dearness allowance for its employees and pensioners from 38% to 42%. Following this, the Uttar Pradesh government will increase the dearness allowance for pensioners and employees by 4%, benefiting thousands of employees.
