Against this backdrop, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe. Thunderstorms are expected over Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep. Heavy rainfall, thunderstrom, lightning are forecast in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe from October 16 to 17.

The impact of this storm, it is likely to rain throughout the day in the coastal areas of Karnataka such as Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada districts. There will be showers in some parts of Belagavi, Dharwad and Haveri districts of northern interior.

After the next two days, the rain will decrease again in the northern and southern inland parts. But there will be light to moderate rain in the coastal areas for the next five days. According to the India Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall will occur in south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Lakshadweep.

While the cyclonic circulation in the Arabian Sea will fall over southern Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, the influence of Lakshadweep region and adjacent southeast Arabian Sea will be over Kerala coast. In the wake of this impact, there is a possibility of a depression over the Southeast and East Central Arabian Sea around October 17.
