Many protests have erupted in the state after condemning the Supreme Court's order regarding the Cauvery river water dispute. In this background, Mandya Bandh has been called for today on September 23.

Cauvery Water Dispute: An important hearing was held yesterday in the Supreme Court regarding the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, and the Supreme Court ordered Karnataka to release 5,000 cusec of water every day. Protests have broken out in the state for Cauvery water, farmers and activists of pro-Kannada organizations have protested in different parts of the state.

Farmers Welfare Committee and pro-Kannada organizations have called for a Mandya bandh on September 23 (today).

Cauvery Water Dispute: Mandya Bandh Today; What’s available, What’s not:

The Mandya District Farmers’ Welfare Committee has called for a city bandh and has expressed support from all organizations. From 9 am in Mandya city, a procession will be held from Visvesvaraya statue of Mandya to Sanjaya circle, Mahaveer circle, VV road, Double road including many roads.

All the shop fronts of Mandya city will be closed, government offices have been requested to be closed. It has been requested not to run auto, private bus, not to open schools and colleges. Only medical, hospital and milk booths will be open. KSRTC buses have been decided to operate after looking at the situation in the city.

Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar spoke about the bandh and protesting is their right, we have no problem. Protest can be done to protect the interest of the state. But he said that action should be taken to cause loss of public property.

Do not do any illegal activity.. If such an incident happens, he has warned that strict action will be taken. Police cordon has been laid at various places in Mandya district.
