Internet Likely To Suspended In Bengaluru for 1 Week: Reason Is Here

Bengaluru: The internet is likely to be suspended in Bengaluru for a week; this will be a headache for Bengaluru people as they depend on internet for every job. It will also have a major impact on telecommuters and tech firms.

Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has decided to remove unauthorized cables on electric poles. It plans to remove all optical fiber cables (OFC), data cables and dish cables laid on power poles within a week. Therefore, there is a possibility that the internet will be shut down in Bengaluru.

The decision was taken by BESCOM in the wake of two incidents in which pedestrians were injured when electric poles fell due to hanging data cables, dish cables and optical fiber cables. On August 22, a 21-year-old college student was injured and suffered 35 percent burns after an electric pole collapsed in Sadduguntepalya near Koramangala.

On August 19, another pole fell on a 23-year-old pedestrian in Devarabisanahalli near Bellandur. “In two separate incidents in Bengaluru, pedestrians were injured due to unauthorized OFCs, dish cables and internet data cables placed on electric poles, which fell and injured pedestrians. After these incidents, BESCOM has decided to remove all unauthorized cables within a week.

BESCOM and Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) have undertaken many maintenance works today, the day of Varamahalakshmi festival, which caused power outage in many parts of Bengaluru.
