Team India’s captain, hitman fame Rohit Sharma has written a record in the ongoing World Cup 2023 semi-final match against New Zealand. He has emerged as the player who has hit the highest number of sixes in the World Cup.

By hitting a six in Trent Boult’s over, he recorded 50 sixes in World Cup cricket and wrote the record of being the player who hit the most sixes. Earlier West Indies Chris Gayle’s record of 49 sixes was broken.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma, who faced a total of 29 balls, hit 4 sixes and a boundary each and gave up the wicket for 47 runs. In an attempt to hit a six, captain Kane Williamson was caught at long on and joined the pavilion. He missed his half century by just three runs.
In the match against the Netherlands held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Rohit had written the record of hitting the most sixes in a calendar year. By this, AB de Villiers broke the record. It was named after former African captain and player AB de Villiers. Villiers hit 58 sixes in 2015. Rohit had broken this record by hitting 59 sixes in 2023.

Rohit Sharma completed 18,000 international runs in the match against England. Rohit has achieved this feat in his 477th innings. He is the fifth Indian player to achieve this feat. Before Rohit, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli had achieved this feat.
