However, Shreyas Iyer will join the team for the last two T20Is in Raipur and Bengaluru and he will take over the role of vice-captain from Gaikwad. Thiruvananthapuram will host the second T20I while Guwahati will host the third T20I.

India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who led the Men in Blue in several T20Is this year, will miss the Cricket World Cup league stage match against Bangladesh with an ankle injury. Sanju Samson did not make the squad. Among the players selected, the performances of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Verma and Rinku Singh will be closely watched as India begin a phase where they want to give a chance to new faces, in the year 2024 T20 World Cup.

Among the bowlers are Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar and Ravi Bishnoi. All of them have a lot of experience in T20 and have played for India. Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Shivam Dubey are the all rounders in the team. Jitesh Sharma is the back-up wicket keeper.
