Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the Indian team sweep Sri Lanka 3-0. Then took 1-0 lead in the 3 match series against New Zealand. In these 4 matches, 16 players have been tested so far and 9 have not been able to perform as expected. So it is difficult for these 9 players to be selected for the World Cup 2023.

Talking about the first match Team India against New Zealand, the Indian team managed to win the match by just 12 runs even after posting a huge score of 349 runs. Shreyas Iyer was the highest run scorer in 2022. But this year he has only managed to score 94 runs at an average of 31 in 3 ODIs.

Couldn’t score even a single half-century. Shreyas Iyer ruled out for New Zealand series due to injury. Suryakumar Yadav, who performed well in T20, has been included in the Team India ODI and Test team. He has only managed to score 35 runs at an average of 18 in 2 ODIs this year. 31 runs is a good score.

Iyer’s absence may give him a chance for the entire series against the New Zealand. In such a situation, he has to show good game in the remaining 2 matches. Along with the T20 captaincy, Hardik Pandya is also the vice-captain of the ODI team. But they too have not been able to perform as expected in ODIs. All-rounder Pandya has scored 78 runs at an average of 26 in 3 ODIs.

The strike rate is only 76. Being a fast bowler, he is able to take only 2 wickets. Thus, if Jadeja makes a comeback, Pandya’s position will be in trouble. Fast bowler Mohammad Shami has been allowed in all 4 matches. He is able to take only 4 wickets at an average of 50. Economy is more than 6.

On the other hand, Mohammad Siraj has taken maximum 13 wickets in 4 matches. Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Umran Malik is ahead of Shami with 5 wickets in 2 matches. All-rounders from Axar Patel to Shardul Thakur failed to perform as expected. Left arm spinner Axar has scored 32 runs in 3 matches and has taken only one wicket.

Shardul has been given a chance in the New Zealand series. Washington Sundar has seen improvement in batting. But so far in 2023, he has managed to score only 12 runs in 2 ODIs. This off-spinner has not taken a single wicket so far. Meanwhile, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has not made the playing-11 after playing just one match.

Kuldeep Yadav, the left-arm spinner who has come in his place, has shown an excellent game. He has taken 7 wickets in 3 matches so far. Economy is also less than 5. KL Rahul is not playing in the New Zealand series due to his marriage. In such a situation, even though Ishan Kishan got a chance, he managed to score only 5 runs in the first match.
