In the day’s other match, Thailand produced a major shock by beating Pakistan by four wickets. Left-arm pacer Fariha Trisna grabbed a hat-trick on her T20I debut while Murshida Khatun and captain Nigar Sultana each slammed a half-century as Bangladesh posted 129-5 in 20 overs after electing to bat first.

Murshida hit 56 off 54 balls and Joty added 53 off 34 balls after losing a wicket off the first ball of their innings. The pair added 87 runs for the third wicket as Bangladesh dominated their innings without giving Malaysian bowlers much of a chance to make an impact.

Trisna then finished with 3-12 as Bangladesh bowled out Malaysia for 41 runs in 18.5 overs to record a comprehensive win. Trishna bowled Winifred Duraisingam and Mahirah Izzati Ismail and trapped Mas Elysa leg-before in between in the sixth over of the innings to claim her debut hat-trick to leave Malaysia 13-3 inside the batting power play.

Fahima Khatun, Shanjida Akter and Rumana Ahmed later claimed two wickets each to complete the rout. In the day’s first match, opener Sidra Ameen top-scored with 56 for Pakistan, but Thailand somehow managed to keep their batters in check, restricting the side to 116-5.
