Women IPL 2023: Indian star bowler appointed as Mumbai Indians Coach

Mumbai Indians Womens Team: The strongest and most successful team in the history of Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians owned by Mukesh Ambani is also fielding a team in WPL. The world of cricket is gearing up for another sharp battle. India’s first ever Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL 2023) will begin in the first week of March. Women’s IPL will start after the conclusion of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup (WT20WC). Five teams have already secured franchise rights for the Women’s IPL and hundreds of women cricketers have registered their names. The auction (WIPL Auction) process will also be held in a few days and various franchises are making strategies to build strong teams.

Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai Indians, who are the strongest and most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League, are also fielding a team in the WPL. MI has now announced the women’s coaching staff of its new franchise that will play in the Women’s IPL league. Mumbai Indians have given the twin responsibilities to India’s legendary paceman Jhulan Goswami, who recently announced his retirement from cricket. He will be the mentor and bowling coach of the Mumbai Indians team in the upcoming Women’s Premier League.

Meanwhile, former England women’s cricket team captain Charlotte Edwards has been appointed as the head coach. With a career spanning nearly 20 years, Charlotte has become one of the all-time greats of women’s cricket, having captained England to ODI and T20 World Cups. For the past 5 years he has been involved as a coach for various teams in England and Australia. Mumbai Indians appointed former Indian all-rounder Devika Palshikar as batting coach and Tripti Chandagadkar Bhattacharya as team manager.

Speaking about this, team owner Nita Ambani said, “I am delighted to welcome Charlotte Edwards, Jhulan Goswami and Devika Palshikar to the Mumbai Indians family. Not just as players, women are getting involved in sports in large numbers as coaches, administrators and training staff. It’s a great time for women’s sports in India. May women get more power to bring more happiness and excitement through the power of sports,” he said.

Mumbai Indians recently bought the Mumbai City team in the Women’s Premier League with the highest bid. This is the 4th franchise of the Mumbai Indians family. Through this franchise, Mumbai Indians has continued its efforts to help the development of women’s cricket in India.
