Virender Sehwag slams Virat Kohli: All rules are applicable to everyone else other than ‘Virat Kohli’

Days after lashing out at Indian skipper Virat Kohli for making ‘surprising picks’ in the ongoing T20I series against Australia, former Team India opener Virender Sehwag has said that the charismatic leader of the Men In Blue is expected to tinker with the playing XI of his side on Tuesday.

Kohli-led Team India will look to complete a historic second T20I series whitewash over hosts Australia in the T20I format when they take on the Steve Smith-starrer side at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

While Kohli-led Team India is likely to rest premier pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami ahead of the high-profile Test series, Sehwag feels that middle-order batsman Manish Pandey has a decent chance to feature in the Team India side on Tuesday.

Yes, Sehwag believes Pandey can replace explosive batsman Sanju Samson in the third T20I against hosts Australia at the SCG. Explaining his reason behind Samson’s ouster from the playing XI, the former Team India opener said that the Rajasthan Royals (RR) star has failed to score runs in the ongoing T20I series between India and Australia.

Though Sehwag feels that there is no need for India to change the winning formula, the former cricketer reckoned that India might want to add Pandey in the playing XI for the third T20I. “I don’t think there is a need to make forced changes. But they may want to play Manish Pandey if he is fit, but for whom will they play him,” Sehwag told the Sony Sports network ahead of the third T20I.

Widely regarded as one of the most successful openers for Team India across all formats, Sehwag asserted that skipper Kohli has a habit of making changes after two games. Thus, Samson is likely to make way for Pandey in India’s final limited-overs match for the year 2020.

“I can see only one candidate, Sanju Samson has had two games and he has not scored runs. So, Virat Kohli has the habit of making changes after two games, so it is possible he could be the one,” Sehwag added.
