Coach Rahul Dravid, who came to Indore for the final ODI, was asked about this in a press conference. “Until last year, Virat’s place in the T20 team was in question…” asked a journalist. But Dravid answered in between, “Not from us sir, not at all.”

Answering the question why Virat is not in the T20 team despite being named in the ICC T20 team of the year, he said, “There are certain priorities that we have to give at certain points in time for certain white-ball tournaments. We are playing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the World Test Championship final. These are important matches for us. “We had to prioritize some white-ball tournaments, the priority after the T20 World Cup is these six matches,” he said.

Virat has played all these six matches. He will rest along with Rohit Sharma for the next couple of matches. We will get together before the Australia series. Virat Kohli will be well rested for that. We need to prioritize some formats,” he said.
