Celebrities and influencers cashing in on the content they share every day on Instagram is nothing new. With a follower base in millions, these celebrities make money through Instagram as they are approached by a number of brands for promotion.
According to the ‘Instagram Rich List 2021’ released by Instagram scheduling tool HopperHQ, Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo topped the list as highest-earning individual on the platform, who earns $1,604,000 (approx 12 crore) per post.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the greatest sporting icon in the country at the moment and enjoys a huge fan base which is hard to rival even by some of the biggest Bollywood superstars. Not just in India, Kohli is one of the most popular athletes in the world, with a massive following on various social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
But ever wondered how much he charges for one sponsored post on Instagram. Well… the answer is out and your favourite cricketer is the highest paid Indian on the list, occupying the 19th position in the world. Kohli is the most popular Indian celebrity on Instagram with over 132 million followers, so it really wasn’t a surprise that he pipped some of the biggest stars in the earning charts as well.
While it’s not a big deal for him, for us common folks the amount of money he makes from just one promotional post on Instagram is just insane. As per Hopper Instagram Richlist, Kohli earns $680,000 (Rs 5 crore) for one sponsored post, which makes him the most popular as well as the most expensive Indian celebrity on the platform.
Actor Priyanka Chopra, who has a following of 65 million, is the only other Indian celebrity inside Top 30 on the list, occupying the 27th position with an earning of over $403,000 (₹3 crore). Portuguese and Juventus footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the most followed person on the platform, leads the chart earning nearly $1,604,000 (Rs 11.97 crore) for each promotional post.
Kohli is one of the highest-paid athletes in the world and is the only cricketer in the Top 100 in with an estimated worth of $26 million. The Indian batting great jumped from 100th to to 66th position in the Forbes’ highest-paid athletes list last year.
It was estimated that Kohli earned $24 million by endorsing brands while a total of $2 million came from his salary and match winnings.
The 31-year-old is the only cricketer in the Top 100 of the list which has Tennis legend Roger Federrer ($106.3 million) on the top, followed by football legends, Cristiano Ronaldo ($105 million) and Lionel Messi ($104 million) respectively.
