Tejaswi Surya completes Ironman 70.3 in Goa, setting an example of physical endurance
Bengaluru: BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Tejaswi Surya has successfully completed the Ironman 70.3 race in Goa for the second consecutive year, proving his physical strength and discipline.
The event, one of the most demanding endurance sports, saw Surya competing in a gruelling three-stage challenge — 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling, and 21.1 km running.
Surya completed the challenge in an impressive 7 hours 49 minutes, with the swimming phase taking him 44 minutes, cycling 3 hours 47 minutes, and running 2 hours 54 minutes.
This year’s Ironman event also saw a significant participation by K. Annamalai, the former president of BJP Tamil Nadu, who completed the race in 8 hours 13 minutes. Surya’s achievement comes as a testament to his rigorous training and commitment to physical fitness, aligning with the Prime Minister’s Fit India initiative.
Tejaswi Surya, speaking about his experience, took to social media and expressed his happiness upon completing the race. “Ironman 70.3 Goa, one of India’s premier sporting events, is a true test of both physical and mental strength. I underwent months of intense training for this challenge. I am pleased to have completed it successfully,” he tweeted.
Surya also credited the energy and enthusiasm of the thousands of participants, mentioning how Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India movement has inspired the youth to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
“Having participated with my dear brother Annamalai, this Ironman 70.3 became even more special for me. The event saw thousands of enthusiastic participants and was truly an embodiment of fitness, discipline, and determination,” he wrote on Twitter.
He further highlighted that India, as a nation of youthful aspirations, must prioritize health and physical endurance. “As a youth-driven nation, we must prioritize physical health and endurance. By focusing on fitness, discipline, and self-confidence, success in any field becomes achievable. I encourage the youth to take part in sports and start their own fitness journeys,” Surya said.
Annamalai also shared his thoughts on the event, calling every participant a champion. “The race demonstrates resilience and discipline. Prime Minister Modi’s Fit India vision is becoming a reality as more and more young people are making fitness a part of their daily routine,” Annamalai said, emphasizing the importance of physical fitness in today’s fast-paced world.
The Ironman 70.3 event, which saw athletes from over 50 countries, was a platform that not only tested physical endurance but also inspired thousands of young people across the nation to embrace fitness as a lifestyle. Surya’s success at this global event reinforces the idea that with dedication and discipline, any challenge can be overcome.
