Sunrisers Hyderabad recruited the services of Glenn Phillips for Rs 1.50 crore at the mega auction. Meanwhile, the one-time IPL champions will kick-start their journey on March 29. They will play against Rajasthan Royals in their opening match. The game will kick off at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Meanwhile, Glenn Phillips hasn’t reached the SRH camp yet. The New Zealand international also opened up on the reason why he is yet to join the camp yet for the tournament. The SRH cricketer experienced mild symptoms of the coronavirus epidemic. The New Zealand cricketer also disclosed in a recent Instagram story that he has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the tournament.

As of now, the cricketer is in New Zealand. The 25-year-old will only join the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad once he recovers. “For those who keep asking I am stuck in New Zealand due to a positive PCR travel test. I will be joining SRH as soon as I can,” he wrote.

Phillips is expected to play a big part for SRH when he joins the team. “Being in the gym has had a lot to do with it [six-hitting]. I’ve definitely put on some weight and started throwing a bit more tin around. At one stage I was sort of doing 800 [press-ups] a day over three sets. I’d do a set of 300, then 300, and 200,” he once said during a virtual media interaction.

Sunrisers Hyderabad delved into a series of failures and frustrations in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League. From sacking David Warner as captain to axing him the squad, things turned from bad to worse. The fans expressed their frustration on social media and the cricket fraternity has seen it all.

Nothing much changed even after Kane Williamson took charge as the captain of the Orange Army. They barely made a telling impact on the field as they managed to win only three games. SRH lost as many as eleven games, in what was the worst campaign in their history.

Probable playing XI of Sunrisers Hyderabad are likely to be Rahul Tripathi, Abhishek Sharma, Kane Williamson (captain), Nicholas Pooran (wk), Aiden Markram, Abdul Samad, Washington Sundar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, Umran Malik, T Natarajan.
