Shah Rukh Khan said I’m ready to sell my ‘pyjama’ to buy MS Dhoni in IPL auction

MS Dhoni popularity is such that even when he is not playing, he would be one of the most in demand cricketers in the world. It is a well-renowned fact about mutual admiration MS Dhoni and Shah Rukh Khan have towards each other even though they are part of different franchises in the IPL.

This is evident from what Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan said in 2017 about buying Dhoni for his team. “Yaar main toh usko apna Pyjama bech ke bhi kharid lun, wo aaye toh auction mein (I’m ready to sell my pyjama for buying MS Dhoni but that can happen only when he is available for auction right?),” Shah Rukh is quoted as saying by Sporstwallah.

Shah Rukh may have his chance this season when the contracts of all players playing are up for renewal. As it stands, it means that the likes of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli will be in the auction for the highest bidders. Needless to say, quite a few records are set to broken in 2022 IPL auctions.

Dhoni may not play for CSK next season, but he may continue as a coach

Mahendra Singh Dhoni will remain with Chennai Super Kings in the next IPL season. However, he might not be available as a player for the franchise, but he given hint that continue as a coach for team.

Dhoni spoke about the same ahead of CSK’s final league stage match of IPL 2021 against Punjab Kings. He clarified that his long-standing association with the Yellow Army would continue in the 2022 season too.

Chennai Super Kings skipper said “You’ll see me in yellow next season but whether I’ll be playing for CSK, you never know. There are a lot of uncertainties coming up, two new teams are coming, we don’t know what the retention rules are,” Dhoni said at the toss, when asked about his future. “We don’t know the retention policy. We don’t know how many players we can retain.”

Dhoni himself indicated that he might not be available as a player for CSK in the 2022 season. In the mega auction, each of the current eight teams will be allowed to retain a few players. Retaining Dhoni for a whopping Rs. 15 crores will certainly impact the purse of CSK. They might not get the desired team combination for future.
