Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson said I am not like MS Dhoni and Dravid

IPL 2022 Runners up Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson may not have taken IPL 2022 by storm with match-winning knocks but his multiple impactful innings while batting at number 3 and 4 played a crucial role in RR’s one of the best seasons in recent times. Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson said I am Not like MS Dhoni and Dravid.

But what was more impressive than his batting, which is not an unknown commodity in IPL now, was the way he led the Rajasthan Royals this year. Sanju Samson, who was appointed as the RR captain last year, was one of the most impressive captains in this edition of the tournament along with champions Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya.

Sanju Samson led RR to their first-ever IPL final in 14 years. The men in pink and blue failed to cross the final hurdle as they were beaten by the best team of the tournament GT but the Samson-led side showed that they are not far from their second IPL title. His calm and composed way of leading the team has certainly given the Rajasthan Royals some good results.

He didn’t panic in the tough situations, and his decisions were equally good. Many fans have also compared his calm way of captaincy with that of Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni. But Samson had something else to say. He took the captaincy role last season and surprised everyone with some extraordinary performances.

He also batted really well throughout the season. The RR skipper added 458 runs in 17 innings and the impressive thing about him was the rate at which he was scoring runs. Samson had a really good strike rate of 146.79 in the season.

In one of his interviews, Samson had said he loves Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni’s captaincy skills, but he is not like them. “I am not like Dhoni or Dravid. I try to be as natural as I am. I try to assess the mood of the team. Often, they are all pumped up and so needn’t tell them that you should give your best.”

The RR skipper has closely worked with Rahul Dravid during his stay with the “A” side. Speaking about that period, Samson stated that his speeches were always motivating and gave you extra motivation to do your best. He added, “That’s the atmosphere we are trying to create in Rajasthan.”
