Prithvi Shaw and his friend attacked by eight people after refuse to take selfie

Oshiwara Police has registered a case against 8 persons over an alleged attack on the car of a friend of Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw after Shaw refused to take a selfie for the second time with two people: Mumbai Police. Oshiwara police has booked eight people on Wednesday, 15 February for attacking cricketer Prithvi Shaw’s friend’s car outside a five-star hotel in Mumbai. According to the complaint given by Shaw’s friend Ashish Surendra Yadav, first the car carrying Shaw was attacked with baseball bats, then the accused followed the car and threatened of false cases if money was not given.

Oshiwara Police have booked the eight people under several sections of the Indian Penal Code for unlawful assembly and using weapons for offence (143, 148,149, 384, 437, 504, 506) after the incident. Prithvi Shaw had gone to a five-star hotel in Santacruz for dinner when the unidentified accused came to their and insisted on a selfie.

Prithvi Shaw obliged two people with selfie, but the same group returned and asked for selfies with the other accused. Shaw refused this time saying he has come to eat food with friends and doesn’t want to be disturbed. When they insisted, Prithvi’s friend called the manager of the hotel and complained about them, according to the complaint.

The accused were asked to leave the hotel by the manager. This incident angered them and when Shaw and his friend came out of the hotel after eating, some people were standing outside the hotel with baseball bats. Prithvi’s friend’s car, a BMW, was vandalised as the accused used baseball bats to smash the front and rear windows of the vehicle.

The complainant said that Shaw was in the car, and we didn’t want a dispute, so we sent Prithvi Shaw from another car, only to be chased by the accused. Shaw’s friend’s car was stopped near Jogeshwari’s Lotus petrol pump. Where a lady came and said that she needs to be paid Rs 50, 000 if this matter is to be resolved otherwise, she will file false charges.

After this incident, the complainant Yadav came Oshiwara Police Station and filed a case, the police registered a case and started looking for the accused. Hotel staff took the names and contact numbers of people who had taken selfie with Shaw and provided it to the police. The two were identified as Sana alias Sapna Gill and Shobhit Thakur.
