Mayank Agarwal Captain, Arjun Tendulkar enters team

The 15-member South Zone squad has been announced for the Deodhar Trophy 2023, a domestic one-day tournament starting from July 24. Mayank Agarwal Captain, Arjun Tendulkar enters team. Mumbai Indians player Arjun Tendulkar has been included in the team and Kannadiga Mayank Agarwal will lead the team in the 50 over tournament.

Earlier the North Zone and West Zone teams were announced. North Zone will be captained by Nitish Rana, while Priyank Panchal will lead West Zone. Talking about the South Zone team, Arjun Tendulkar, who plays for Goa in the Ranji Trophy and Mumbai Indians in the IPL, has been selected for the team. Also, apart from him, most of the team are uncapped players.

Arjun Tendulkar, who played for Goa in the last Ranji season, scored a century in his Ranji debut. But after that no noteworthy innings came out of his bat. Arjun, who has played 7 first-class matches, has scored 223 runs and taken 12 wickets in bowling.

Meanwhile, four pacers and four spinners have been allowed in the squad. Arjun, Vidwat Kaveerappa, Vaishak Vijaykumar and V Kaushik will be the strength of the bowling department while Washington Sundar, Mohit Redkar, Sijoman Joseph and Sai Kishore will handle the spin department.

North and West zone teams also announced:

The North Zone and West Zone teams were announced before the South Zone announced its team. Nitish Rana has been given the captaincy role in the North Zone team while Priyank Panchal will lead the West Zone. The North Zone team consists of young up-and-comers like Abhishek Sharma, Prabhasimran, Nishant Sindhu and Harshit Rana.

Similarly, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Rahul Tripathi, Delhi Capitals’ Prithvi Shah and Chennai Super Kings’ explosive batsman Shivam Dubey are also in the West Zone team.

South Zone Team: Mayank Agarwal (captain), Rohan Kunnummal (vice-captain), N Jagadeesan (wicketkeeper), Rohit Rayadu, KB Arun Karthik, Devadat Padikkal, Ricky Bhui (wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Vidwat Kaveerappa, Vaishak Vijaykumar , Kaushik V , Mohit Redkar, Sijoman Joseph, Arjun Tendulkar, Sai Kishore.
